Oaxaca Mexico

I arrived in Bahias de Huatulco Mexico to volunteer with 'Agape Mission Projects International' to volunteer teach and help with construction for one month.
Mexico on Friday, June 21st 2013. I made it through customs without any problems, and even obtained a free 180 day visa. I was met by Sheri Burk, who has been serving there for over 25 years. You could say she knows her way around. Sheri is the director for 'Agape Mission Projects International', and I had a great time getting to know her and the projects she has been involved with there over the years.

I spent the first week getting acquainted with the area and learning a bit about what to expect for my time here in Southern Mexico. The first couple weeks our primary focus was on constructing a sea wall to help protect the "Palapa Church Mission" that is roughly 100 yards from the ocean in San Augustine Mexico. Recent storm surges in the last couple weeks had caused severe damage to these structures, and threatened to destroy them unless these concrete/rock walls were built to defend them.

Here are some pictures from the two weeks I spent there working with the local community to construct handmade sea walls to help protect their local church and meeting area. I'm really happy to have had the opportunity
to be a part of this construction project and I am so glad to know it will help protect this area for years to come.
